Videogame trailer commercials are better than Hollywood!

One the top critically acclaimed, money making and most fun video games titles in the industry has come out with its newest installment, Halo Reach. Blogging about this came to mind after watching one of their very cool commercials during both primetime slots and selective channel air on television.  Now you might or might not be saying what the heck does this have to do with us adults? Well, I’m here to let you know and inform- in case you didn’t know- that the video game industry grosses more revenue than the movie industry and this is only likely increase in the future . I remember how shocked I was, when I first read this some years back.  How did they overtake Hollywood? Was its various marketing strategies that helped them achieve success, customer loyalty to game franchise or just luck? Well I’m not really going to answer but more or less  let you know what moved me to buy and become one of the Videogame junkies even though I just turned thirty(the demographic for video gamers has drastically changed over the years). After seeing  the Halo Reach Commercial it reminded of a trailer for a movie and actually is better than most I’ve ever seen. This is nothing new to a videogamer like myself but to attract or at least spark curiosity to new customers they are doing one heck of a job and beating Hollywood at its own game. There just brilliantly edited and moving.

Within the past 5 years videogame industry have made their video game debuts much more mainstream and moving. Heck I’ve even bought other titles a new franchise just because the commercial, very Hollywood trailer movie-like, motivated me to do so. Check it out and tell me that you would have not done the same?

Facebook: The optimized myspace

I mean, think about Facebook, what are they really producing? A huge online community where people can network with each other in an individual and or business basis. The really invented nothing but perfected everything. And now there is a movie being made(The Social Network) about the founder and its rise to the top. Geeez why am I intrigued with something that has little innovation and more optimization from lesser products/services…MySpace and other platforms existed way before Facebook yet they are the ones capitalizing the most. Moreover Twitter is limited form of Facebook pushed by the media and celebrities strategically and guess what it worked. It became and is very successful but will they learn how to money from it? These types of ideas and social networks spun into their own microeconomic market channels with cold hard data to be analyzed and therefore to be capitalized. I feel bad for Myspace and websites alike who had and implemented an amazing idea yet s were unsuccessful at fine tuning to current and future trends thus current minority marketshare. You read more here Facebook literally took the idea and perfected it…

IPad Commercial is so damn catchy

This past weekend I have been watching more TV than usual (US Open Tennis and NFL) and I keep encountering those catchy Ipad commercials. Those Apps look amazing specifically the piano, astronomy and geology apps. Makes the laptop I'm working on now seem archaic. This reminds me of past feelings of when I was using a large desktop computer at home with cables all over the place, then seeing other using laptops at wifi spots at cafes-feeling inept... Once again my past feelings have caught up with me. I want an Ipad. If  the work, homework, and recreation is that much more fun on an Ipad-purchasing an additional cool computer might be ok. Hmmmm am I crazy for thinking of buying the Ipad after seeing their catchy marketing campaign or is the Ipad an overglorified iphone which i already have? Should I stick to laptops for work and school or tryout the Ipad because it looks some damn fun? Well im getting an Ipad no matter what you think :).
